Have you ever skipped a smooth rock across the water? If you have you would have probably noticed that the rock created ripples. Ripples that dance over the calm surface. I have always loved watching the effects of a skipped rock more than actually skipping the rock because one rock can cause that many ripples and those tiny waves dance until you can't see how far that have really gone, until you can't see how far they have really reached, effected. I think that it is beautiful.
This is a poem that I wrote a little while ago. The thing about this poems though is that some of my friends might remember it. So to those of you who do, I am asking that you do not acknowledge that you know who I am. I started this site to bring people to God and shed some light on One who I believe in with my all. So please could you do that for me? Could you not mention who I am on this sight? Thanks. :) Anyways, here goes...
Her crimson shoes his the edge of the clear blue water
I wrote this poem because I couldn't find a better way to describe the ripples caused by a disturbance in the water. And I wanted to share this with you because (this is going to sound cheesey 'cause it seems like everyone says this...) I wanted to show you how one thing can impact something else so greatly. It truly is amazing.
That is how we impact others. We do one thing, good or bad, and it's effects will always reach many. Why? I like to call it the ripple effect. Now to apply this concept to our lives, I think we need a little swim in the world of the Word.
Lets start at the beginning of this concept. Being bold or having confidence to stand up for yourself and others. Especially when it comes to faith.
God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble. So we will not fear when earthquakes come and the mountains crumble into the sea. Let the oceans roar and foam. Let the mountains tremble as the waters surge!
This verse shows us that God will deliver to us the confidence we need not matter what we face. Isn't that cool? I think its cool. Anyways, I like this verse because it also gives us the picture of Him never leaving our side. This is where the ripple effect begins. We have to have the confidence to start something. We have to be bold in our lifestyle! We have to believe, in Him and His never dying devotion to us, in ourselves and our ability to face everything that the world throws at us head on, in never letting go of our need for God, in not having to do it all alone because we have a God who loves us! We have a God who was willing to sacrifice His Son for US! We have a God who is willing to sacrifice everything for us! We have a God! One God! Our God!
The next part of the ripple effect is taking action.
Matthew 28:19-20 THE GREAT COMMISSION
"Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations...Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you..."
We have to not only tell others about God, but we also have to live and act in a way that resembles our words or we will be pushed out of minds as hypocrites. In Matthew 28:19 it says, "Therefore go...". Here, Jesus is not telling His followers to just talk about Him. He is telling them to go out into the world and teach others. He's not referring to just talking, though. In my house, we have this saying, "Monkey see, Monkey do." I think that in a since, that is what Jesus was calling his disciples to do. He was calling them to live like he did.
And last but not least, we need patience. Patience to listen, patience to wait and definitely just patience in general.
Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.
We need patience to depend on God for all of this to work. We need to patience to wait for His perfect timing and to let ourselves learn from our mistakes. And we definitely need patience to wait because all this, everything, happens when God says. It happens on His time, not ours. If it happened on ours, this world probably wouldn't function.
God calls us to stand up and share His word with all the other humans on this planet of ours. So remember, you need to be bold in you lifestyle. Don't be afraid to live for God and let it be known. You need to take action. No one will learn about God if all you do is talk but don't follow through on your words. You need to be patient. Everything happens on God's time, not yours.
