It's funny. Today is Christmas Eve and my thoughts are not exactly thinking of Jesus being born into this world. My mind is traveling to something else. Something that is also important, but not as important. I'm thinking about life. Not the big things in life or the little things, but life as a whole. Here lately that is what has been engulfing my thoughts.
I've been thinking, life isn't just about the little things. It isn't just about those big moments that could alter your reality. It's more than that. It's how you live. How you deal with it all. Many people wonder why God would let people go though pain and suffering. But the way I see it, it's not about Him "putting us through pain" because the Bible says that He'll never give us something that we can't handle. It has more to do with how we react to that pain, how we recover from it, our mental attitude after the fact. That is what really, truly helps define us and our way of living. That is what shows others who we are, what we are, what we stand for, our beliefs.
A lot of times I see people putting Christians down because we make mistakes and that makes us hypocrites. But the thing is, it's not about the mistakes. It's not about how many times you mess up or how big or small someone's mistakes are. It's about so much more. It's about how you learn from those mistakes, what you learn from those mistakes. That is what shows the world our Christian standards. That is one example of a way we are able to have actions that portray God in our lives.
It is not even always about what you believe in, though that is really important because your beliefs are a huge aspect as to who you are and where many of you moral values come from. But if you aren't willing to defend what you believe in, then why believe in it? Why would you believe in something that you can't defend. To me that's like building a house without a foundation. As soon as a storm hits, it's going to collapse. When people ask questions or start bashing your beliefs, what are you going to do? That's the thing you have to be able to back it up. You have to be able to start at the beginning and know why you started believing in the first place. You have to have a reason, and from there you have to be able to explain yourself. Other wise how are you going to be able to share you beliefs and values? Isn't that apart of how you live? Doesn't your beliefs and values play into the decisions you make on a regular basis?
And all that combine, doesn't cover all that life is about. I'm not trying to define the reason for living, and I am definitely not trying to offend or bash anyone. More so, trying to explain my view. I'm trying to put my thoughts to use by explaining my opinion on some things. But the thing is that to me, life isn't just about your memories, mistakes, friends, troubles, and so on. I think that it has more to do with who you are and what you are living for...
