Have you ever been called an outcast? If you have did you feel insulted when the word hit your ears? Have you ever called someone an outcast? Did they look hurt after the word came racing out of your mouth?
In my personal opinion, being an outcast is not a bad thing. I am a complete outcast and pretty much always have been. I can count my friends on one hand and not use all five fingers. When most people learn this, they feel bad for me, but they shouldn't. I am weird and corky, and most people agree that I am fairly easy to get along with. But, I'm different. (And that's putting it kindly.) Crazy is my specialty and don't forget my bubbling awesomeness!!! I am definitely not worried about what others think of me. Wait, that's not true. I am worried. I do care care what others think...just the slightest bit. But that's for a different blog post.
Anyway, being an outcast has its perks. You know those awkward social moments when no one knows what to say? Well, I don't have those very often... But what I'm really trying to get to...
Outcast should not ever in a million years be an insult. Why? Because Jesus was an outcast! And so were His closest friends! (Gasp!) All 12 disciples were not exactly top of the line, fancy, up to date, socialized people of society. They were the loners. Yet, they are the people that the Son of God chose to be friends with. They are the people that set the basics for being a Christian. They showed us that we don't have to be perfect or liked by everyone. They are examples that we look to! Now, what's that tell you? It tells me a lot. Including the fact that being an outcast isn't all bad. (Yay!)
