Last night my family watched a movie called "One Nation Under God". This very powerful movie is a documentary about four college guys that go around the U.S. and ask people tough questions like "Who do you think Jesus Christ was or is?" or "What do you think happens after death?". In the movie, the guys start off by stating their names and admitting that they don't have all the answers, that they are hypocrites, that they are judgmental. They talk about how a lot of Christians live like they have everything figured out when in all actuality, they have basically nothing figured out.
This movie is a very good example of what Christians need to work on and how they should try harder to share the good news because not very many people know about God. At one point in the movie they talk to some elderly couples who say something along the lines of this: Christians need to work on walking the walk better because they may be the only example that people get of the Bible and God. They also asked numerous people what they thought of Christians and tons of people said Christians are very judgmental and good at putting people down when they don't believe in the same thing. This hit me hard because these two statements show that a majority of what the world sees of Christians is not very appealing. We aren't known for being Christ-Like which is what Christian means. I think that's extremely sad. The main goal of Christianity is to share the Good News, to be kind and loving, show Jesus, and do so by actions not just words or we are going to look like fools who just have too much hot air to spare. They say "[We should] stop acting the Christian life and start living it."
This movie is super powerful. At one point, they were talking to some Islamic people who told them about their religion and also said something like this: people who are not sure in their faith will tell others that if they don't believe in the same thing, then they aren't going to heaven. They basically condemning others with different beliefs. But if someone is sure in their faith, then they are more open and allow actual conversations between themselves and other people. They are pretty much more loving in the way they share their christian faith with others.
This movie is something I think everyone should watch, even if they are not Christians or God believers. You sure do learn a ton and it is really inspiring. Below is the trailer.
Because of this movie, I want to ask these questions. You don't have to answer them, just think about them, though I would like to here your responses.
