There are two main views on people who are gay. One view is that being gay is acceptable. On the other hand, there are people who believe, because of the Bible, that being gay is not intended .
No matter which way you look at this, you shouldn’t let one difference completely define a person. For example, whenever you have forgiven a friend who has lied to you, you don’t look at them and still say, “Hello, Liar.” We look past the wrong doing they have committed, and see a human being who makes mistakes, just like you. And it’s okay.
There are two phrases in which we use to address people who like the same sex. When you say “gay people”, you are putting more emphasis on the fact that a person is gay, making it sound like they are nothing more. Saying “People who are gay” puts the emphasis on the fact that they are still people who have lives, families, personalities, interests and in addition are gay.
Micah J. Murray on Huffpost.com goes deeper and explains this by showing how Jesus looked past the sin to see the person.
“They say Jesus was a friend of sinners, but he didn't describe himself that way.
“His motto wasn't ‘eating and drinking with prostitutes and tax collectors.’ Those were the labels used by the religious community, by the disapproving onlookers. What's amazing about Jesus is that when he hung out with sinners, he didn't act like they were sinners. They weren't a ‘project,’ a ‘mission field.’ They were his friends. People with names. Defined as beloved children of the Creator, not defined by their sins. Icons of God's image. His brothers and sisters.”
I'm not saying I think being gay is ok, but I don't think that people are defined by the fact of which sex they like. There is so much more to a person than a mistake they have made and I think that we should focus more on showing people the Truth rather than telling them how wrong they are. People should spend more time sharing the Word and less time throwing around insults.
