Halloween happens to be one of my favorite holidays. I mean, who doesn't like all that candy (One thing you people are going to find about me: I like facts. When my friends here me say, "Did you know..." they all groan. Not really, they like my factual brain because they are nerds too. Soo...)
Did you know that Halloween originated as a Celtic holiday. The Celts believed that Halloween was the one night a year where the land of the dead and the land of the living clashed creating a pathway between both worlds for the dead to cross over. The Celtic people held a big festival and brought a bit of the fire home to light there hearth. They believed that this would keep them save from the dead, but if they couldn't light the fire, then they would have bad luck and someone in there house would die that year. They also dressed in costumes (lamb hide, goat hide, or some other hide is what they used...) because they believed that it would help protect them.
Why and I telling you this? I'm honestly not sure...But I think that when we look at the way this particular holiday has evolved, it becomes an even awesome day. I mean it went from a day of fear of the dead to a day of awesome costumes, smiles, laughs, and candy.
It is just cool to look at the way things change. Take Christianity for instance. It started out in the Garden of Eden with Adam and Eve to being kicked out of the Garden and Cain and Able battling it out. Then the Israelites were unfaithful and God guiding them back to Him. Then Jesus showed what real faith looks like. And look at what it is today. We've got all kinds of different views on it.
I don't know if this post really has a point, but I just thought it was a cool idea. It interests me...
